Sree Vivekananda Padanakendram was founded in 1995 with the great vision of uplifting a sprawling region when the people hardly had any opportunities for schooling. Its primary objective was to render selfless dedicated services to the cause of value based education. Now it has grown to great ramifications consisting of multifarious institutions and courses catering to the educational needs and aspirations of the district in particular and state in general. The campus spreads over an area of ten hectares with multistoried buildings arranged in a square. More than 6000 students are occupied in various courses in the campus. The campus is located at Palemad (in Malappuram District of Kerala State).
It is the flagship of the fleet in the Sree Vivekananda Educational Complex comprising of a dozen of institutions offering diverse courses. The educational complex spreads over an area of 10 hectares and which is set against the backdrop of the scenic beauty of the lush green mountain ranges and forest is the manifestation of the decades long perseverance and dreams solely of a visionary named Sri K R Bhaskaran Pillai ,hailing from the erstwhile Central Travancore.

He is the founder of Sri Vivekananda Educational Complex at Palemad, in Malappuram District, one of the largest and most disciplines educational institutions of Kerala. The complex consists of a Higher Secondary School, Arts & Science College, College of Teacher Education, Teachers Training Institute. It also runs an Institute for Computer Training and Institute of Health Inspector’s Diploma course.
Born on 16th June 1938 at Pullat Village of Thiruvalla. Father: Sri.A.K.Raman Nair.Mother: Smt. Lakshmi Amma.Sri.Manjeri Bhaskaran Pillai is a renowned social reformer, voluble religious speaker, vibrant organizer, and an activist who infused strength and life to the Nair Service Society. He was the President of N.S.S. Malappuram District and member of N.S.S. representative body. He was the President of the National Democratic Party (N.D.P.) consequent on the demise of Kidangoor Gopalakrishna Pillai. He is the founder of Sri Vivekananda Educational Complex at Palemad, in Malappuram District
He started his career as a teacher and soon engaged in socio-cultural and community service programmers. During the Liberation Movement he was a source of strength to the activities of Mannath Padmanabhan. He also contributed to the establishment and promotion of the Kerala Congress Party at its initial stages along with Mannam. Though he contested in the Assembly elections in 1970 against Sri.M.P.Gangadharan, he could not win. He was an ardent worker in popularizing literacy mission in Kerala. He also served as the Secretary of KANFED of Malappuram District.
Another sister institution of Sri Vivekananda Educational Complex is the Sri Vivekananda Vijnana Kendra established by Sri.Bhaskaran Pillai with the aim to promote spiritual and moral values in the society. The Kendra used to organize annual spiritual living discourses annually, which attracted many intellectuals and religious scholars.
Sri.Pillai is the winner of Barister G.P.Pillai Foundation Award of 2003 for his contribution in the educational and cultural fields over a period of more than 25 years. He was also awarded The Karma Seshi Award for the year 2005 instituted by K.R.Elankath Smaraka Trust in a function held on 8th February 2006. Sri.Therambil Ramakrishnan, Honourable Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly, presented the award.
